HELP BRING BACK SPLASH TO CITY POOLS

The Tucson Parks Foundation and the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department need your help to reopen city pools which have been closed since the 2009 City budget reductions. Community and business partnerships along with donated funds will afford additional pools to open for summer 2012 swim programs.

Workshop: Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 6:00-8:00 p.m. – Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 4520 W. Ajo Hwy. (north side of Ajo Hwy. just east of stoplight at Camino de Oeste)

Volunteer day: Saturday, February 18, 2012, 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. – Snyder Hill, 7200 W. Old Ajo Hwy. (east side of San Joaquin Rd. just north of Ajo Hwy.)

Broadway Boulevard Corridor Update

TUCSON MODERN STREETCAR SOUTHWEST GAS UTILITY WORK DOWNTOWN UPDATE

Contractors for Southwest Gas have begun work in the downtown area to move/upgrade underground utility lines in preparation of the upcoming rail placement for the Tucson Modern Streetcar.

This phase of Southwest Gas work will occur in areas along Broadway and Congress between Fourth Avenue and Granada Avenue.

Scott Avenue Restrictions

To lessen the impact on the traveling public, Southwest Gas will perform work along Scott Avenue overnight, between  8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.  Beginning Monday, February 6, 2012 through Friday, February 17, 2012, Scott Avenue between Broadway and Jackson Street will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Southbound movements from Broadway to Scott Avenue will not be permitted during this time.  Jackson Street will not be affected by the closure.  Scott Avenue will be re-opened to two-way travel each morning.
