INVITATION TO PUBLIC HEARING ON JUNE 15TH ON I-19 STUDY

The Arizona Department of Transportation invites you to attend the public hearing on the study of Interstate 19 between San Xavier Road and Interstate 10.  The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the El Pueblo Senior Center – 101 W. Irvington Rd. – Tucson.  A brief presentation is scheduled for 5: 30 pm.
The purpose of the public hearing is to obtain public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment for the I-19: San Xavier Rd. to I-10 study.  The Design Concept Report (DCR) will be available for review. Maps and displays will also be available for review. Public input is extremely important as part of the study process.  Comments will be recorded on the proposed improvements.

In collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), ADOT has been evaluating improvements along I-19 between San Xavier Rd. and I-10 in order to alleviate congestion and increase capacity within this corridor through the year 2033.  Potential improvement may include adding travel lanes in both directions (a total of 4 lanes in each direction); reconstructing traffic interchanges at Ajo Way, Irvington Rd., and San Xavier Rd.; constructing new interchanges at Drexel Rd. and Los Reales Rd.; constructing a new pedestrian bridge between Irvington Rd. and Ajo Way that would replace the existing bridge and would be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and improving drainage at the Rodeo Wash, Irvington Wash and other locations.

Beginning June 1st through June 30, the Draft Environmental Assessment document will be available for viewing online at www.azdot.gov/i19 and at the Valencia Library, 202 W.  Valencia Rd., Tucson, AZ 85706.

Comments should be submitted by June 30th to ADOT in care of Logan Simpson Design Inc., 33 N. Stone Ave., Suite 1460, Tucson, AZ 85701; phone: 520-884-5500 ext. 15; fax is 520-620-0441 or e-mail: tfortner@logansimpson.com.
