Work continues on Mariposa Road in Nogales next week

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue work along and near State Route 189 in Nogales next week to make the drive along this roadway smoother.

Monday (Oct. 17)

ADOT will close the northbound I-19 exit and entrance ramps at Mariposa Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for pavement work.

Tuesday (Oct. 18)

ADOT will close the southbound I-19 exit and entrance ramps at Mariposa Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for pavement work.

Wednesday (Oct. 19) through Friday (Oct. 21)

ADOT will intermittently close the right and left lanes on eastbound and westbound Mariposa Road between Target Range Road and Frank Reed Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for pavement work.
As part of ADOT’s continued investment in highway improvements in Nogales, this $3.2 million project includes removing a layer of the existing pavement, applying a smooth new driving surface with rubberized asphalt, replacing guardrail, constructing sidewalk ramps and sidewalk, placing new pavement markers, and repaving the entrance and exit ramps at Interstate 19 and SR 189.

The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2011.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties. Drivers are reminded to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
