Border lecture series kicks off this week in Tucson

A speech from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin about the changes and challenges in border security in the post-Sept. 11 era is the opening event of a program organized by the UA's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Bersin is scheduled to give his address at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 1, in the North Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union at the University of Arizona. Bersin was appointed commissioner by President Obama on March 27, 2010. A question and answer session will follow the lecture.
