Since Summer 2009 Girl Scout Troop # 908 has volunteered through the Tucson Clean & Beautiful Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas Program to adopt Rio Vista Natural Resource Park, just south of the Rillito River. During the Adopt-a-Park Ceremony, the young volunteers will be recognized for their ongoing commitment to remove litter and report maintenance needs at this site.

This ceremony marks the 237th ongoing Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas project to be coordinated through Tucson Clean & Beautiful. Girl Scout Troop # 908 joins many other community organizations and businesses that maintain over 185 Tucson metropolitan area parks, streets, and washes on a regular basis throughout the year.

The Adopt-a-Park and Public Areas program was established in 1984 to address the growing problem of litter. Since that time, Tucson area volunteers have provided over 200,000 volunteer service hours at hundreds of sites, including over 13,000 hours just in the past year. This unique public-private partnership helps to keep our public areas cleaner and safer for all to enjoy.

Tucson Clean & Beautiful is a nonprofit organization, incorporated in 1985 as the flagship for community based environmental volunteer efforts in the Tucson metropolitan area. Its programs have grown to address recycling and waste reduction, urban forestry, land stewardship, and beautification.
