COSTCO's Grand Opening, Great Day for Ward5, City of Tucson and Pima County

Today is a great day for Ward 5, the City of Tucson and Pima County with the opening of the new COSTCO store.

COSTCO constructed this facility building in 110 days thanks to Borderland Construction.

There a lot of people to thank, Councilmember Shirley Scott who worked with former Councilman Steve Leal for the land swap.

To Frank Egan, Eric Davis and Jim Portner for pursuig this dream of development, which is now a reality.

To Pima County Supervisor Ramon Valadez, County Administrator Chuck Huckleberry, and their staff who helped with the flood control issues, City Staff who helped get the permitting and paperwork done to meet the demanding schedule of the project.

To the Neighborhood Leadership Willie Blake, Maggie Gerring,Cindy Ayala, Charlotte Cruz, James Christopher and Paul Appleby, for their work and guidance throughout the process and to Costco's National President Jim Senegal and Dave Adamson the manager of the new store.

Finally special thanks to my Ward 5 Staff who worked closely with all to ensure today's grand opening. More great things are coming to Ward 5 so stay tuned!
