Ajo and Sixth Traffic Intersection Update - By TPD Chief Roberto VIllasenor

This  is to notify Mayor and Council of the final installation of the red light traffic safety camera located at Ajo & 6th Avenue.  This is the final intersection of the eight (8) intersections approved by Mayor and Council.

The cameras and intersection are currently undergoing final testing and finish work in preparation for being activated.  This camera installation is expected to go “live” on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. The cameras and accompanying sensor system have the capability of capturing images of drivers and their vehicles for two intersection-related violations; failure to stop for a red signal light as well as speeding on the approach to the intersection.  For violations captured at this intersection during the first 30-days of operation, drivers can expect to receive a written warning notice only, with no citation or other penalty. Following the 30-day warning period and beginning Monday, October 31, 2011, drivers found to be in violation will receive traffic citations for the related offense.
