Community Forum on September 14 to discuss PCC proposal to end open enrollment

Councilmember Richard Fimbres, Councilmember Regina Romero and Vice Mayor Karen Uhlich, are sponsoring a Community Forum to discuss the Pima Community College’s (PCC’s) proposal to end open enrollment. The proposed change in the admissions policy would require an admission exam. The purpose of the Forum is to learn about the policy and give community members an opportunity to express their perspective on the impact this will have on the community.

The Forum will be held at Sunnyside High School, 1725 East Bilby Road, in the school auditorium, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14. The agenda for the Forum will include a panel presentation and then small group discussion. Bilingual facilitators will be on hand to assist. The results of the Forum will be documented and then submitted as an official record to the PCC Board of Governors during their next scheduled board meeting in September.

The Forum will be facilitated by Tucsonans for Civility (TFC), a non-sectarian, non-partisan organization comprised of volunteers drawn from a broad cross section of the City of Tucson. TFC is dedicated to supporting respectful and civil discourse and deliberation on the issues that challenge our community.
